Fine Art Photography

Fine Art Photography is about finding the significant in the insignificant, and separating the extraordinary from the ordinary. It is not about documentation per se (though it can be), but about a vision that transcends documentation.  It is a genre with a loose definition, but at it’s core is not about what we see, but what we create from our seeing, from our feelings. In short— It’s about expression!

There are no hard rules in the fine art photography genre, but there are good workflows that help each artist develop and grow. I work with and teach thematic approaches, because I like stories with a beginning, middle, and an end.  I may choose a desert rhythm, a social issue, a series of abstractions but along the way I seek that small gesture, that spark of color or tone, and the unexpected point of view that allows a viewer to modulate a new visual rhythm or to reach a new understanding.

This blog promotes and supports fine art photography themes, developments, markets and other artists be they emerging or accomplished, who are creating the work they are meant to create. While my site, bobkillen.com showcases my themes, my blog is a place where I can encourage, teach, create community, and muse about this wonderful world of fine art photography.
